STRICTLY TABOO
Femme Formation is bringing women forward and encourages conversation (with quiet persistence) on topics many shy away at the dinner table. Even though the female collective is only recently coming into the light with intimate conferences and panel discussions, it has been diligent in providing the members an exclusive newsletter with carefully curated content, unique monthly Journals and no spam (amen).
Taboo Nights is the most recent initiative from the anonymous Femmes - a closed event where members exchange views in a form of a debate under a careful moderators’ watch and prompting. Held at a newly opened Rosa & Co Cafe in Garibaldi district, the location (not surprisingly), is also run by a young, entrepreneurial woman.
The topic chosen: Gender Identity. As ambiguous as it sounds (mysterious is their thing), the object was clear: to put forward a conversation without bias or judgement. Heteronormative culture strikingly was shed with intersectional feminism coming from an international group of forward thinking members.
All in all, this format feels like a breath of fresh air against pink squared ‘girls can’ images down our Instagram feeds.
